In what has been an already a busy 2021 for the Cork label which has seen multiple releases from many of its roster and in continuing its policy of unearthing gems and working with some of the best in Irish talent, FIFA Records are delighted to announce that West Cork based alt-rock 4-piece, First Class & Coach will be joining the FIFA roster. With, FIFA’s Eddie Kiely stating, “We think First Class & Coach will be an excellent addition to the label, amongst many other things their unusual sonic textures and squalling, distorted guitars really excite me, Ashley and I are delighted to welcome them to the FIFA family”.
Formed in 2017 by Reuben Maher (guitars, keys, vox), Jonathan Parson (bass), Geraldine Thomas (vox) and Andrew McNeilage (drums) – the groups early gigs fused hard-edged guitar sounds with ambient keys, digital samples, and dance rhythms. These formative shows led the band towards honing their distinctive sound blending distorted guitar hooks, driving bass lines, muscular drums and uncompromising vocals delivered in both German and English. With the advent of a global pandemic, live tour plans were shelved, yet the band continued to write new material, resulting in recording their second album in BlackBox Studios, France – with producer Tony Maimone at the controls. 2022 promises to be an exciting year for the band and FIFA with their new record Neon Hip due for release in early 2022.
