Following the release of We Need in June Telefís have returned with a second helping of theocratic electropop, with their new single Mister Imperator. The new release from the iconic pair composed of the renowned Cathal Coughlan (Microdisney, The Fatima Mansions) and producer/ mixer/ composer Garret Jacknife Lee (U2, R.E.M., Modest Mouse, The Cars, The Killers, Snow Patrol, Crystal Castles, Editors, Taylor Swift) is a deliciously retro electronic affair that loosely recounts the tale of a beloved pianist, who was a light entertainment staple of early TV fare dating back to the first broadcasts in The Irish Republic in 1961.
Mister Imperator is accompanied by a video produced by documentary-maker Niall McCann (“Art Will Save The World”, “Science of Ghosts”, “Lost In France”) and photographer Gregory Dunn (whose work is currently exhibited at the National Gallery of Ireland) who have captured a world where past meet present, where legend meets forensic accountancy, and the knick-knacks get up and bark like hyenas.
