Ahead of their Isle of Wight Festival debut, The Chase release new single – Death of Me

Ahead of their Isle of Wight Festival debut, The Chase have released new single ‘Death of Me’ on 20th August, out on Golden Robot Records.

Reigning from rebel city Nottingham, The Chase fuse Brit-Pop nonchalance with killer 60s choruses and arena sized rock-and-roll to make a noise that is truly unique. The Chase began life at the young ages of 8, 10 and 11 when singer Tyler Heaney recruited his younger brother, Dion, to play drums alongside cousin, Luke Childs, on bass. The band would later be complete when school mate James Cahill joined on keys to turn the family trio into a quartet. Inspired by their working-class roots, the group named themselves after the very streets on which they were raised using their council estate upbringing as an inspiration for their 90s inspired brit-pop sound.

The latest single from the group, Death of Me, in essence is a four-minute tragicomedy giving a pragmatic view of love and its faults. Wrote during Covid, guitarist Tyler said: It’s a very personal song to me, it speaks of a hard time I went through last year (Aside from all the covid stuff). I felt the need to jot it all down and out came Death of Me. I’m really proud of how the track turned out in the end, and who can beat a mega trumpet solo to end a track?!”

A track that’s rooted in the warm familiarity of Brit pop, Death of Me opens with a chiming piano hook and smooth vocals reminiscent of One by Harry Nilsson. Building with a brightly polished production of infectious guitars, forward moving drums and bass. The Chase builds on these layers, shifting between light-hearted verses into a rousing chorus that builds to an energetic peak with that lovely “mega trumpet solo”

A band who are well on their way up, The Chase have produced a fantastic hook laden track that’s old school brit pop for a new generation. The Chase are scheduled to play their debut performance at Isle of Wight Festival 2021, a sold out 450 capacity hometown show and a whole heap of other magic yet to be announced.
